Beck Kaplan

I spent the early years of my life in South Africa watching birds in the garden and looking for invertebrates in the flowerbeds - giant millipedes were a firm favourite.
My fascination with nature continued into adulthood and I now hold a degree in zoology with experience ranging from habitat restoration work across London's parks to assisting with the curation and care of globally significant natural history collections.
I take a lighthearted approach to photography, hoping to capture character and engage my audience with the subjects in my images. Everyone should be able to enjoy nature, and I hope that my photography can offer this to those who may be unable to get outdoors as much as they might like to.
Rooted in my respect for animals as individuals, I place animal welfare at the heart of my photography. I do not pay for photo opportunities with captive or wild animals, nor do I feed, chase or crowd animals for photo opportunities.
I hope that my work can contribute to the understanding that wildlife photography is possible without encouraging damaging human-wildlife interactions.
You can keep up with my most recent work on Bluesky.
